1/4 Chubz – Cut Me Down (Official Video)

In 1984 Thatcher’s government planned mass pit closures. In part it was revenge for the successful miners’ strike of 1974 and in part it was a plan to break trade unions and forever further the exploitation of workers. The miners went on strike attempting to defeat these aims but Thatcher used unimaginable violence, conspiracy and lies. The strike ended in 1985 with closures proceeding.

Today, the conspiracy goes on; the Tory government will not allow justice to be done. They refuse to hold a public inquiry, rightly believing it would tarnish the memory of Thatcher, especially the truth concerning the Battle of Orgreave when the most horrific, unprovoked violence occurred.

I’m proud to be associated with the 1/4 Chubz; too young to remember 1984/85 but able to see how the injustice goes on, how the exploitation of workers worsens, and able to write a stunning protest song about it.

1/4 Chubz – Cut Me Down (Official Video)

Intense, seething post punk grunge, driving guitars, soaring chorus and hook, passion, rage, honesty, in all the right measure – top video – great band.
