Whanga welcomes El Mugid

El Mugid has invaded Whanga Studios. His occupation has gone unopposed by both the Peoples’ Front of Whanga and the Whanga Peoples’ Front. Try to ignore the tanks parked outside 2a Chalmers Street, Dunfermline. Upstairs his new studio is taking shape.

Braw as…

Of course, El Mugid is a fictional character. His real name is Ben.

You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension – a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You’re moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You’ve just crossed over into the Whanga Zone.

Mim Amhaz greeting El Mugid, Whanga Studios, 2022

The Whanga Zone is an eerie place, populated by an assortment of the strange and the wonderful. Some say Scooby Doo villains roam the corridors. Others marvel at Birrell’s hat. The sheer audacity! Intrepid boldness galore. But scary too. Hand the angelic looking ones a guitar and a mic and quickly they shriek obscenities. LOUD obscenities! Remember those video nasties, I Spit On Your Grave, SS Experiment Camp, Cannibal Holocaust… Anyway, Whanga think Ben will fit right in.

One of Ben’s creations. He makes music videos.

Yes, El Mugid is famous for his music videos and YouTube channel. Here’s a pic of Call It Rooted playing in Ben’s old studio.
